My name is Veronica Donovan, and I am an Insurance Apprentice at Robertson Low.

This programme allows you to earn an honours degree in Business and become a Chartered Insurance Practitioner while gaining experience working in the insurance industry.

As I am coming to the end of my apprenticeship journey, I would like to share how it has helped me develop my industry knowledge and professional skills as I move on to the next chapter of my career.

My first and second year were based in the Personal Lines department of Robertson Low as a member of the renewals team. Here I was able to learn about the Irish motor and household markets which were a brilliant introduction to the insurance industry.

In my last year on the apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to move to the Wholesale team in Robertson Low. This move gave me a new insight into how the business and insurance industry works and introduced me to the London insurance market.

Additionally, I developed my professional communication capabilities, commercial acumen, and interpersonal skills in this role by working as part of a team and dealing with clients.

From the beginning, Robertson Low has promoted a culture of learning and development among their junior staff. The management team in Robertson Low has been key to my development. They have always encouraged and helped me during each stage of my apprenticeship journey. All members of the team are always available and are happy to help. Additionally, I have been able to join and take part in the Charity Committee, the Wellness Committee and go to London for training.

The apprenticeship has helped to kickstart my career and provided me with endless opportunities to grow and develop over the last three years.
